Dr Brett D’Arcy was born in Perth in 1963. His first published novel, The Book of Lonely (Picador), appeared in 1997. The Mindless Ferocity of Sharks (Vintage, 2003), won the WA Premier’s Fiction Award (2004), was shortlisted for the Colin Roderick Award and long-listed for the international IMPAC Award.
Both novels have been optioned for feature film production.
A contributor to The West Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Bulletin and other publications, Brett has published over a hundred book reviews, short stories, articles and essays.
For the last nine years, he has been a casually appointed lecturer and tutor within the Faculty of Media, Society and Culture, at Curtin University of Technology, WA.
